If you’re looking for an easy homemade gift this season, then there is nothing easier (and cheaper!) than Chocolate Spoons! They are perfect for stirring a hot mug of cocoa or chocolate. These can be made by the dozen and they look amazing when packed and given as gifts. Save some for yourself to stir in your coffee (like I do!) and enjoy it while catching up on your social media or watching your favorite show on Netflix!
You just need a couple of things to get started.
- Heavy duty plastic spoons
- One cup Chocolate chips
- An assortment of sprinkles/toppings
After gathering the supplies melt the chocolate chips in the microwave at 30 second intervals. You can use the double boiler method too, but I prefer using a microwave as its easy and works just as well. Adding about half a teaspoon of vegetable shortening makes the melted chocolate smooth and glossy.
Fill the spoons with the melted chocolate. Rest the handle of the spoons on a tray with a lip so that the chocolate doesn’t over flow.
Let the chocolate cool for a few minutes before adding the toppings, otherwise your sprinkles may start melting with the heat.
It took me just a few minutes to decorate about fifteen spoons. Don’t they look amazing ! Let them rest for about twenty minutes before packing them up. You can speed up the process by putting them in the fridge. I left mine on the counter as it gave me a chance to admire them while they cooled !!
I decided to make some hot chocolate and try out my spoons. How cute is this mug! I got it from the dollar store!!
Now who wouldn’t love to receive these as gifts? They are simple, yet unique. Wrap each spoon separately and store in a cool, dry place for 2 to 3 weeks.
Below I have shown various ways you can gift the chocolate spoons (and show off my favorite mugs!!)
