Pinwheel Cupcake Toppers

These days no party is complete without cupcakes on your dessert table. So today I thought I would show you how to make a fun and festive cupcake topper. Pop it on your homemade or store bought cupcakes and wow your guests at your next party ! With just a few supplies you can easily match them to go with the party theme. They are just as easy to make as my Floral Cake Topper which I posted a couple of months ago.

You don’t have to limit these toppers to cupcakes only, stick them on your muffins brownies or even sandwiches!

You will need

  1. Felt
  2. Toothpicks/lollipop sticks
  3. Buttons

Cut a 2 1/4″ square from the felt and mark the center. Make deep cuts from all four corners towards the center mark as shown below.

Take one corner point and bring it towards the center and glue down. Now repeat this step with each alternate point.

Next, take your choice of button and glue to the center of the pinwheel.

Viola! you’re done! Each pinwheel takes just a couple of minutes to complete so make a dozen or two in different colors. The best part is they are reusable and gender friendly.

If you don’t have access to felt you can make these out of magazines newspaper or cardstock .  Put any kind of embellishment in the center like small stickers if you don’t have buttons . Now you don’t have an excuse, so do try it during this Spring Break!
