A Cake Topper can take your cake to a whole new level. They are a beautiful addition to your special event cakes. It’s like the icing on top of the icing!!
If you have some tissue paper laying around (and who doesn’t!!) then you can have this ready in about 10 minutes. It’s simple, it’s easy, and it makes your cake look so festive!
Supplies you’ll need:
2 contrasting colors of tissue paper
2 decorative straws
scissors
tape
string or ribbon (not shown)
Cut a 4″ square out of one tissue color. Make five layers.
Cut two layers of 2.5″ x 4″ from the other color.
Layer them on top of each other as shown below.
Fold them together accordion style. We’ve all learned this method in elementary school so I don’t need to explain.
Find the center and put a piece of tape to keep it together.
Trim off the corners to make a neat rounded edge.
Fan out the tissue. Starting with one side, carefully peel each layer towards the center.
Repeat this step on both sides.
Fluff up the flower. Tie a cord or ribbon between your straws and tape the flowers on each end.
Your Cake Topper is ready !!
Make them in any color to match your party’s color scheme. You can make the flowers bigger or smaller according to your preference. I love how it turns a simple cake into a statement cake!
